Sevierville Police responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of Winfield Dunn Pkwy. (Hwy. 66) and Boyd’s Creek Highway, at approximately 7:58AM this morning, Monday, September 16, 2002. Sevierville Police Officer Tim Coulter arrived at the scene to find a 2001 Toyota RAV4 partially turned-over, resting on the driver’s side.
The RAV4 had been struck on the right rear side by a 1993 Toyota Corolla, which was attempting to make a left turn onto Hwy. 66 from Boyd’s Creek Hwy. As a result of the collision, the RAV4, which was traveling south on Hwy. 66, was sent into the median and onto the driver’s side facing north. Due to the position of the vehicle, Sevierville Fire Department firefighters removed the windshield from the RAV4 to extricate the driver.
The driver of the RAV4, Ron Nease, 55 years old of Knoxville, was transported to Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center with a shoulder injury. The driver of the Corolla, Kristin Garner, 18, Seymour, was also transported to FSSMC with a knee injury. Both divers were apparently wearing their seatbelts. Garner was cited by Officer Coulter for failure to obey a traffic signal. The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and Ambulance Service assisted as well.
