Holy Trinity Lutheran Church hosted a fundraiser for the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department this past Saturday September 14th. John Engwall, Congregational President said, “We are always looking for ways to reach out to the community. This was a way to do it with good food and fellowship and all for a good cause.”
Carol Barnett who works with the church stated that, “The fire department can always use the funds and we had a great turnout.” Church staffers estimated that around 125 plates of barbequed pork and beef were sold during the day not including take-outs. With the total funds raised, THRIVENT, a non-profit organization that promotes volunteerism was pitching in their share. “We are going to match whatever money the church brings in dollar for dollar,” stated Dean Hemple who works with THRIVENT. Both Dean and his wife Linda worked hard cooking and putting the barbeque together along with the help of church volunteers.
“We’d like to host the auction here next year,” stated Barnett. It would be great to have the benefit auction and the barbeque in the same place.”
The church raised much-needed funds for the fire department and everyone who attended enjoyed good food and fellowship at the same time.
