Sevier County 4-H members recently participated in the Sevier County Junior Livestock Show, at the Sevier County Fairgrounds, in Sevierville. This event was held in preparation for district and state shows. Judge, for the show, was Mr. Greg Upchurch. Mr. Upchurch is on staff, with the University of Tennessee Animal Science Department and coaches the U.T. Livestock Judging Team.
Tyler Bruhin exhibited the Grand Champion Market Lamb, the Grand Champion Commercial Ewe and the Grand Champion Breeding Ewe. Tyler is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Alan Bruhin, of Sevierville.
Adam Hopkins exhibited the Grand Champion Registered heifer and the Reserve Champion Lamb. Adam is the son of Dr. & Mrs. Fred Hopkins, of Sevierville.
Showman winners were also named with Adam Hopkins as Champion sheep Showman and Kelsey Waters as Beginner Sheep Showman. Kelli Franklin, Clarisa Williams and Faith Williams also exhibited lambs at this years show.
Highlights for District Livestock EXPO, in Knoxville, included: Tyler Bruhin – 1st overall in Market Lamb Showmanship, 4th overall in Commercial Heifer Showmanship; Adam Hopkins – Market Lamb Class Winner, Reserve Champion Tennessee Lamb, Beef Heifer Showmanship Winner, Champion and Reserve Champion Shorthorn; Kelli Franklin – Market Lamb Class Winner.
At State EXPO, Adam Hopkins was named the State Champion Level II Beef Skillathon Winner and Tyler Bruhin placed 5th overall, in Breeding Ewe showmanship.
The Sevier County Livestock Association provided a cookout for the exhibitors, livestock association members and their families. Participants and association members also tested their knowledge regarding livestock production with a Skillathon event. Local businesses sponsoring this years 4-H Livestock Show included: Sevier County Farm Bureau, Sevier Farmers CO-OP, Sevier County Livestock Association, Citizens National Bank and the Sevier County 4-H Endowment und.
