The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an inmate trustee, who walked away from a work detail in Alcoa last Thursday. Christopher Travis Lawrence, 28 was working for Alcoa Public Works when he disappeared around 11:50 a.m. Public Works employees notified the Sheriff’s Office about an hour later after they failed to locate Lawrence during a search of the premises on Springbrook Road.
Lawrence is a white male with short brown hair. He is about 6’3” tall and weighs about 230 pounds. He was wearing navy blue work clothes, pants and a short-sleeved shirt. Lawrence was serving time after being convicted on theft of over $1,000 and identity theft. He had been at the Blount County Detention Center for 93 days.
Lawrence had been assigned to various duties in the facility including jobs in the kitchen and garage. He had worked his way up to an off-site job about two weeks ago. The Sheriff’s Office routinely assigns non-violent inmates to work details for other government or non-profit agencies. Those agencies are responsible for the trustees when they are signed out of the facility.
Christopher Lawrence is from Bristol, Tennessee. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has been notified about his disappearance. The public is asked to call the Blount County Sheriff’s Office if they have information about Lawrence’s location. Notify the communications center by dialing 9-1-1, or if you choose to leave confidential information, call the Crime Prevention Hotline at 273-5200.
