Looking for a bargain? Then you might just want to stop by Teen Scene Consignment Shop. The shop, located next to Olde City Subs & Pizza in the S&J Mini Storage on Chapman Hwy., specializes in teen clothes at a fraction of store prices.
Seymour resident Teresa McCarter opened the store about four months ago as a way of making extra income for her family. “I can’t hold down a regular job because one of my children is usually sick. This was a way for me to earn some money for my family but still give me the flexibility that I needed,” stated McCarter. Both of McCarter’s children, Cole age 11 and Jamie age 19, have undergone kidney transplants. Cole’s transplant was needed because of a ruptured appendix and Jamie has a rare kidney disease. “They are at the doctor’s a lot. So, even though I have regular hours, I’m not always here. My customers and consigners have been very understanding, they’re great.”
McCarter, who used to own a children’s consignment shop, stated, “I love clothes and I love talking with people. Plus, with this job I can pick my own hours.”.
Teen Scene Consignment Shop carries quality merchandise with name brands. One customer told McCarter she was excited because she found a pair of jeans for $10, which she had just seen at the mall for $30. Prices are about one third to one fourth of department store prices. “Everyone wins,” says McCarter. “The kids get extra spending money, they can buy clothes at reduced prices and I get to do what I enjoy.”
Teen Scene Consignment Shop is currently accepting new consignments. People can bring in their clothing, and after it sells, they’ll receive 40% of the selling price. Payment is then made on the 15th of each month. If you aren’t interested in selling, at least stop by and pick up some bargains!
