At a time when most papers are either folding, or just barely staying heads above water financially, the Seymour Herald Newspaper is adding to its staff once again. Due to the overwhelming acceptance and support from both community and advertisers growth is necessary.
“I am so impressed with the advertising clientele. I know how hard it can be to get certain companies to advertise, but our paper doesn’t seem to have that problem. I think it’s because we publish a quality paper that people can appreciate and advertisers can respect,” says managing editor Krista Laughner.
The Seymour Herald is looking to expand its staff by hiring for two different positions.
“Our circulation has grown so much that we need to hire a full time circulation manager to handle the growing responsibility of reaching as many people as possible. The response to our paper has been overwhelming and we want to make sure that we can reach every interested person.”
Aside from the circulation manger, the Herald is also looking to hire another advertising representative. “We have had a great deal of advertising interest from Knox, Sevier, and Blount Counties and we want to give them the personalized attention that we pride our paper on. So, it has become important for us to hire another ad rep to take on the growing advertising accounts,” adds Laughner.
Amid skepticism that a newspaper would be able to last in Seymour, the Herald has proved critics wrong. Growing in revenue as well as staff, the Seymour Herald is in the process of building its own facility to be located in the Seymour Business Park.
“It’s ironic, we are growing with the community,” smiles Laughner.
All interested applicants should email editor@seymourherald.com or call 865-577-6609 and ask for Krista Laughner.
