It seems that everyone is going to the movies. With sales including books, magazines, videos and CD’s down one thing is rising, movie ticket sales. A big part of that I believe is that finally the studios are coming out with some great movies. This season alone we have seen some great thrillers like The Minority Report with Tom Cruise and The Sum of All Fears with Ben Affleck along with some flicks that are great for kids and adults alike such as Spiderman and Star Wars.
At one time when you thought animated movie, you could think of no one but Disney producing it. Now with the competition coming up with such hits as Shrek and Ice Age, Disney has had to get on the ball with a new animated hit of their own. I think that has been accomplished with this new movie. The animation is excellent, showing beautiful Hawaiian landscapes. Lilo & Stitch will no doubt go down as a hit for the Disney studios.
The premise of the story tells of a little girl in Hawaii, Lilo, who unknowingly adopts a dog she decides to name Stitch. In reality Stitch is actually an evil alien, a criminal whose ship crashed on Earth while he was being transported to an intergalactic prison. He takes on the form of a dog by hiding a couple of his six legs and hides from the alien police who are searching for him.
The evilness in Stitch slowly starts to fade as Lilo shows her love and her belief
in “ohana” (the Hawaiian concept of family).
Lilo and Stitch is certainly worth taking your children to. A children’s show, yes, but I think it will be a favorite with adults as well.
