At approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday, a 1993 Mercury Sable driven by Carl McGinnis was stopped on Chapman Hwy. with his turn signal on to turn into Millers Service Center, when a 1998 Geo Prizm driven by Georgia man Joel Newsum struck the rear of the Sable, according to the attendant at Miller’s.
Both automobiles suffered substantial damage.
Newsum was taken to Fort Sanders Medical Center in Sevierville. McGinnis, driver of the 1993 Sable was life lifted to the University of Tennessee Hospital.
It was reported that McGinnis’s grandson was also in the 1993 Sable and was taken to an undisclosed medical facility.
