Back in April we reported about a missing Knoxville child, Alisha Bowling, who was last seen leaving with a woman from her school at Carter High School in Knoxville. Bowling’s grandmother Vivarene Lett informed the Seymour Herald that her granddaughter had been found in South Carolina and has since returned to the Knoxville area.
Fourteen-year-old Bowling was found in the company of adults. No one is charged with kidnapping since Bowling left with the woman voluntarily but the adults involved in her disappearance could be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Terry Floyd, Vivarene Lett’s brother told her that several concerned neighbors in South Carolina called and reported the girl was not attending school and was in the company of adults. Floyd was told by the neighbors police did not follow up on the calls. “It’s funny,” stated Lett. “My granddaughter went shopping at the mall with her mother after she returned from South Carolina and a local police officer brought the girl in because he recognized her as a missing child. Her mother tried to explain that she was her parental guardian but the officer brought the child in anyway until he could prove it. All I can say is she is glad to be back home.”
