Nancy-Lynne Trentham, anchor for TV-6 Good Morning Tennessee, has taken leave from broadcasting to pursue sales within the pharmaceutical market. Trentham, desiring a change, has taken a position with the Astra Zeneca pharmaceutical company as full-time sales representative. “My family is very sales oriented and my father could not be more excited that I am following in his footsteps. With both my parents in sales, it certainly comes as no stranger to me. My mother, as real estate broker, gives me a mirror to look at. I feel very comfortable with this change, knowing the aspects that are involved in the profession.”
When approached with the question of why such a change, Trentham responds, “The people I personally knew who have been in this line of work were so happy and were making good money, as well. I am very tired from the long hours I put in every day and am just in need of a break. I am not saying that I will not someday return to broadcasting or some type of journalistic pursuit, but for now this is what I have chosen.”
Originally from Kentucky, Trentham studied journalism and environmental affairs at Indiana University. Trentham, with love of music, studied music at Indiana University as well as the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. Trentham began her career in Washington, D.C. as a reporter, especially enjoying research and documentary work with programs such as ABC’s special reports and PBS’s Frontline.
Working her way back to the area, Trentham held positions in Maryland, as morning anchor in El Paso, Texas and anchor reporter in Lexington, KY. Trentham, following her roots home to Oak Ridge, will stay in the Knoxville area as family members still reside in the region of Oak Ridge. Her most interesting ancestor is her grandfather, who first came to Oak Ridge in the early 1940’s to help build the atomic bomb. Oak Ridge is where her father was also raised.
“I like it here and find the opportunities here to be well suited to my interests. Working in this media, my day begins at 3:05 a.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. I enjoy my work but am tired.” Trentham commented about her present position. Trentham has many interests and plans to continue her outside interests, one of which is to write children’s books someday.
