The Fort Sanders Therapy Center at Fort Sanders Sevier will sponsor physicals for student athletes on Thursday, May 23. The physicals will be offered to high school and middle school students in Sevier County and given from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Staff members will perform screenings for flexibility, strength, and joint/ligament testing. Height and weight measurements will also be taken. The screening will be followed by a medical physical given by Fort Sanders Sevier physicians and medical professionals.
The physicals will be offered at a reduced rate of $10 to cover the cost of processing information gathered during the physical, with the remaining amount returning to each athlete’s school athletic fund.
Student athletes interested in receiving a physical should pick up a physical form available at their school or at one of the Fort Sanders Therapy Center locations in Pigeon Forge, Seymour, Sevierville, and Gatlinburg. The physical forms are also available online at www.tssaa.org/forms/forms.htm#physical.
The entire physical form contains three parts, including a consent form. Physicals cannot be performed without signed parental or guardian consent.
Athletes are requested to arrive at the therapy center, located at 709 Middle Creek Rd., according to a schedule based on the first initial of their last name. The physical schedule will be as follows:
A – F 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.
G – M4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
N – S 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
T – Z 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
The Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA) requires a
pre-participation screening of all high school and middle school athletes prior to their eligibility to begin try-outs or practices for school sports. The Fort Sanders Therapy Center has offered the physicals for local students for over 11 years. For more information, call 429-6584.
