The Seymour area continues to grow to the tune of $3.5 with a church project just off of Chapman Hwy. on Boyds Creek Road.
“And coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected by men, but choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
Thus the scripture from 1 Peter chapter 2 was used as dedication was made for the 3.5 million-dollar expansion project being undertaken by Seymour Heights Christian Church. Dedication spoons were handed to each celebrant to “spoon” out a bit of dirt while surrounding a cross, tilled in the ground near the sight where the project will be constructed. Representatives from Johnson Architects as well as Denark Construction participated in the “spooning”. All who participated in the groundbreaking ceremony were asked to keep their spoon for the dedication of the completed facility sometime in 2003.
Pastor R. Berry told the story of a pastor who attended a dinner made by one of his faithful attendees. She, being an excellent cook, had served him well. As she began to clear the table, he was told to hold on to his spoon for “the best was yet to come”. Pastor Berry reminded all to do the same with their spoons, for “the best is yet to come”.
