It’s taken nearly two years, but the Seymour Intermediate School now has a playground. Many teachers commented that, “We’ve been working on fundraisers for so long, that some of the kids who raised the money for the playground will be moving on to the Middle School. The primary school children who come here next year will get the benefit, as well as the children that will still be here.”
Many people worked hard to make the playground a success. Several area businesses have donated funds to help take the edge off the $30,000 price tag. “The equipment that we have now is paid for.” Stated Greg Clark, school Principal. “The county helped by preparing the site which was an expense in itself. We still plan to put up a shed to complete the project. We are so glad to have a playground. The goal was to get top notch equipment that would last and I think we have done that.”
By the looks of it, the children aren’t complaining, “The kids love it!” stated Clark.
All students in attendance (about 758) came out to have their picture taken on the new playground. Deseree Lambert stated, “It is strange to drive up and see the kids playing on the playground. It’s really nice to see. It was a long time coming.”
