The Seymour Eagles’ junior varsity baseball team stumbled out of the blocks but returned to their winning ways last week. After dropping a 5-2 decision to William Blount, the Eagles came back to sweep a doubleheader from Lenoir City.
The Governors of William Blount took the hard fought win behind some outstanding pitching that limited the Eagles to just 2 runs on 5 hits. Jared Smith doubled for the Eagles. Andy Trentham pitched well in defeat.
In the weekend twinbill against Lenoir City, the Eagles got their bats going and coasted to 17-2 and 12-2 wins. Mark Inman, Kevin Jinks, Todd Wilson, and Alex Smith all had multiple hit games in the opener. Eli Brown pitched a one-hitter to get the mound decision.
In the nightcap, the Eagles’ offense stayed hot. Alex Smith had 3 hits and 4 RBI while Aaron Lambert and Justin Emert, had to hits each. Bryan Whittaker was outstanding on the hill and was the winning pitcher, giving up two unearned runs on just one hit.
The JV improved its season record to 3-5-1 with 5 games on tap this week.
