He was a past Commander of the Sevierville American Legion Post 104, and a member of both the Seymour and Sevierville Lions Clubs. He had served on the Sevier County Hospital Board; was a member of Chilhowee Masonic Lodge, the Kerbela Shrine, and the Scottish Rite.
