81 of Dillon, SC formerly of Maryville died Friday January 3, 2003in Dillon. She attended Hamer Church of God, She was Preceded in death by her Parents: Reve and Callie Phillips Moody, Brothers: Len, R.D., Layton, and Joe Moody, Sisters: Gladys Leeper, Blanche Gardner, Helena Moody. She is survived by her Husband of 64 and ? years: E.G. Craig, Sons and Daughters in law: Jerry Guy and Alinda Craig of Hamer, SC, Phillip Randall and Deborah Craig of Maryville, Grandchildren: Paul, Joseph, Elizabeth, Rachael, Joshua, Matthew, and Jonathan, Four Great Grandchildren, Special friend: Carole Johnson of Oxford, GA. 73 of Alcoa died Wednesday January 1, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was preceded in death by Children: Ralph Gibbs, Linda Gibbs. He is survived by His Ex-Wife: Mary Lou Gibbs, Sons: David Gibbs, and John Gibbs, Daughters and Sons in Law: Lorene and Steve Potter, Cindy and Roger Yuraska, Cathy and Carl Lee, Brother: Raymond Gibbs, Sister Nell Leinart, Nine Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews. The family and friends will meet for Military Graveside Funeral Services at 1:30 P.M. Julia Yates Little
83, of Gatlinburg passed away Saturday, January 4, 2003 at Sevier County Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Little was of the Baptist faith.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Little; sisters, Stella Hays, Alva Mae Wheatley, Grace Yates; brother, Guy Yates and beloved brother-in-law, Gerald “Doc” Hays.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Valentine and husband Larry of Gatlinburg; sons, Richard Little of Pigeon Forge, Marcus Little and wife Rosemary of Gatlinburg; grandchildren, Dawn Costello, Kim Bailey, Jennifer Little; great grandchildren, Tiffany Ham, Tyler Bailey, Colby Tanner, Hayley and Megan Costello. Besides the immediate family, several nieces, nephews, very loving and dedicated friend, Carol Ann Watson and a host of friends whose lives Julia has touched during her stay on this earth will miss Julia. A special thanks to the beloved caregivers, nurses and staff of Sevier County Healthcare Center for the love and care that they have shown Julia.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7 at Huskey Cemetery with Rev. Greg Watson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, January 6 in the Davis Room of Rawlings Funeral Home.

Hazel Lee Wells
88, of Sevierville passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.
Mrs. Wells was of the Methodist faith.
Her husband, James Haskell Wells; parents, George W. and Bessie Maples Emert; brothers, Victor, Otha and Carl Emert; sister, Reva Joyce Emert preceded Hazel in death.
She is survived by her children, Georgia Monday and husband Bob, Wanda Manning and husband Ralph; grandchildren, E. Randall Monday, Lisa Monday Carvalho and husband Nelson; great grandchild, Joshua T. Monday; brothers, Stanley Emert and wife Joanne, Glen Emert and wife Amy, Paul Emert and wife Shirley, Bill Emert and wife Loeta; sisters, Ruby Fox and husband J.T., Ruth Roberts; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae and Marie Emert. Besides the immediate family, several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends will sadly miss Hazel.
Service will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Smith and Rev. Herman Cate officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5 at Red Bank Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4 at Rawlings Funeral Home.

Homer Clifton Diggs
85, of Maryville, TN died Sunday, December 29, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. after 38 years of service and was a member of Alcoa’s 25-Year Club. Mr. Diggs was also an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. E. and Ina Diggs; brothers, Clyde Diggs & Jack Diggs; sisters, Mary Beth Greiger and Helen Carpenter. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Beatrice Diggs; son, Joe Diggs of Maryville; son & daughter-in-law, Jerry & Helen Diggs of Maryville; five grandsons, Johnny Diggs, Adam Diggs, Jeff Diggs, Brian Diggs & Andy Diggs all of Maryville; 2 granddaughters, Shannon Reno and Raechel Diggs both of Maryville; one great-grandson, Chase Reno; brother & sister-in-law, Edward & Geneva Diggs of Jacksonville, FL; sister & brother-in-law, Anne & Max Dobbins of Media, PA; several nieces & nephews. Family & friends assembled Thursday, January 2, at Grandview Cemetery for graveside service & interment. Age 80, of Maryville, TN beloved husband, father, and Grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and was retired from Alcoa after 47 years of service. He is preceded in death by, Daughter, Teresa Sue Harris, Father, James D. Patty Sr. and Mother, Leola Patty, and Brother, Robert Patty. Survivors include: Wife of 61 years, Ruth Patty; Daughter, Jeannie Jones of Rockford; Son, Jimmy Patty of Cosby and Daughter, Cathy Cross of Maryville. Seven Grandsons and 2 Granddaughters and Eight Great Grandchildren. Brother, John Patty of Knoxville. Sisters, Dorothy P. Gibbs of Knoxville, and Betty Peery of Etowah. Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Clifford and June Long of Maryville. Special cousin Barbara Whaley of Maryville and Several Nieces and Nephews. Family and Friends assembled Tuesday, December 31, at Mt Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery for Graveside Services and Interment with the Rev. Raymond Burnett Officiating. Age 90, of Louisville, TN died December 30, 2002 after a very brief illness. Loras was born October 4, 1912 in St. Louis, MO. She came to Knoxville as a young Secretary to work for TVA. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Iliff P. Conger. Loras asked that no flowers be sent. A memorial service will be announced later. 48, of Greenback died Tuesday December 31, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a devout Father. He is survived by his wife of 27 years: Theresa Cannon, Children: Stephanie Cannon Breeden, Dustin Cannon, Grandchildren: Andy and Laura Breeden, Mother: Jean Cannon of Meridianville, AL, Sister: Suzanne White of Hazel Green, AL. Francis Terry Gobble
63, of Sevierville, TN went home to be with his Lord and his mother on December 31, 2002. Terry began his journey at Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Pigeon Forge, TN. His Mother, Ada Fox Gobble, preceded Terry in death. He is survived by his Father, Elmer M. Gobble; special friends, Jean and Gene Davis, and a host of friends whose lives he had touched during his stay on this earth. Terry’s kindness and consideration for others will long be remembered by those who loved him. • Services were on. Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. H.B. Hauk and Rev. 86, of Sevierville, TN formerly of Lake Angelus, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, January 01, 2003 at Sevier County Healthcare Center. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Selberg. She is survived by her children, Donna Sue Kirk and husband Kenneth; Gordon Selberg and wife Peggy; Edith Hamilton; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. Whitehead; Sister, Wilma Sue (Mickey) Whitehead. Survivors include: Son and Daughter-in-law, Larry & Laura Tucker of IL; Daughter and Son-in-law, Kim & Bill Sparks of Maryville; Grandson, Brad Sparks; Grand-daughters, Beth Sparks of Maryville and Alexa Tucker of IL; Brother and Sister-in-law, Tyson and Jenny Whitehead of Paris, TN; Sister, Margaret W. Thomson of FL. Claudia was much loved by her nieces and nephews: Michael Thomson of FL, Stephen Thomson of Australia, Mary Margaret Kelley of Maryville, Lorri Williams of OK, Sandra Jeffries of Maryville, Jan Finger of Maryville, Sara Shirley of Atlanta, GA; Special cousin, Kathleen Hearon. Funeral service was Friday, January 3, 2003 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Adrian Jones officiating. Family and friends assembled Saturday, January 4, 2003 for the interment.

Age 81, of Sevierville, TN died Wednesday, January 1, 2003. She was born March 21, 1921, and was a member of Roaring Fork Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gosnell; parents, Mark and Mary Ogle; brothers, Ernest and Thomas Ogle; infant sister, Lilly Cleo Ogle.
Survivors: Son and Daughter-in-law: Bill and Rebecca Gosnell; Granddaughter: Mary Gosnell; Great Grandson: Zachary Gosnell; Sisters: Marie Williams, Flora Bohanan Towle; Sister-in-law: Helen Ogle; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Friday at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel, Pigeon Forge with Dr. David Ayers officiating. Interment was Saturday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.

Edwin F. Hochnedel, Jr., age 86, of Seymour, TN passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leora and Edwin Hochnedel, Sr.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and George Acred of Memphis. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy, and retired from TVA as Chief of TVA Construction Accounting Branch after 36 years of service. • He was a faithful member of First Methodist Church in Sevierville serving as a member of the Council on Ministries, as Treasurer and as Chairman of the Scholarship Committee. He was past Treasurer of TVA Retirees organization, served on the TVA Credit Union Board, and was a charter member of the Bicentennial Volunteers Inc., a TVA retirees volunteer group. He was a past Commander of the Sevierville American Legion Post 104, and a member of both the Seymour and Sevierville Lions Clubs. He had served on the Sevier County Hospital Board; was a member of Chilhowee Masonic Lodge, the Kerbela Shrine, and the Scottish Rite. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Williams-Hochnedel; a son, Edwin F. Hochnedel, III of Knoxville; a daughter and son-in-law, Faye and ‘Moe’ Hochnedel-Greenwood of Seymour; grandchildren, David and Gretchen Hochnedel of Knoxville, and Marcus Fitzsimmons of Seymour; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Joseph Corcoran of Pope, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Jean Turner of Waldorf, Maryland, a special friend, Todd Nuebert of Seymour; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Friday in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Reverend Bobby Ely and the Reverend H.B. Hauk officiating. Family and friends met 11 AM Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery in South Knoxville for interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church designating either the Scholarship Fund, or the Holston Children’s Home, two of Edwin’s favorite charities.

Age 80 of Maryville, formerly of Dayton, OH died Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a Veteran of World War II and a previous member of The Masons. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors include: Wife, Cheryl A. Cox; Son, Kevin L. Cox of Cincinnati, OH; Daughters, Michelle & husband John Robison of Maryville and Melanie Cox of Maryville; Grandchildren, Ryan, Kimberly, Brianna, Bryce, & Cameron Robison. Barbara Wanda Loveday, age 73 of Seymour, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at her home. She was a member of Dupont Baptist Church, the Dorcas Sunday school class and the W.M.U. She was preceded in death by her infant son William; parents Clifford and Myrtle Lopasser; and brother Hollis Lopasser.

Ruth C. Black age 82 of Kodak, TN died Monday December 30, 2002. She was an active member of Kodak United Methodist Church. She was known for her compassionate and tender heart along with her baking prowess. Ruth was a registered nurse for many years at Fort Sanders Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Mae Clopp sister, Mary Clopp, and brothers Ben and Jack Clopp. Survivors: Husband: Howard C. Black; Son and daughter-in-law:John and Patricia Black; Daughter and son-in-law: Durelle and Bernie Fullenkamp; Grandchildren: Emma Black, Kristen Fullenkamp, Jonathan Fullenkamp. Funeral service was Thursday at Kodak United Methodist Church with Rev. Ty Harrison and Dr. J. David Hester officiating. A reception followed the service in the fellowship hall. Family and friends met Friday in Henry’s Crossroads Cemetery for interment. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Kodak United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2946 Douglas Dam Rd, Kodak, TN 37764.
